Christy Nielson is a fifth year student in the J.M. Tull School of Accounting, anticipating graduation in the spring of 2019. Christy focuses on experimental audit research. Specifically, Christy is primarily interested in improving reporting quality and audit quality, given hurdles such as the complexity of management estimates and the presence of earnings management and fraud.
Christy worked as a senior auditor for Deloitte, Nashville before joining the PhD program at the University of Georgia. Her clients were primarily in the manufacturing and healthcare industries. Christy was designated as a manufacturing specialist while she was with Deloitte.
Christy earned her Bachelors and Masters of Accountancy at the University of Mississippi, Patterson School of Accountancy. While at UM, Christy was awarded a Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial Medal, the highest academic distinction awarded by the university.
