Biography
Dr. Dave Chatterjee is tenured Associate Professor, in the MIS department, at the Terry College of Business, The University of Georgia (UGA). An accomplished scholar and technology thought leader, Dr. Chatterjee’s interest and expertise lie in the various facets of technology management – from technology sense-making to implementation and change management, data governance, internal controls, information security, and performance measurement. His work has been cited over a thousand times and published in prestigious outlets such as MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, The Wall Street Journal, MIT Sloan Management Review, and California Management Review, and sponsored by industry. In addition to scholarly writing, Dr. Chatterjee is a noted speaker, delivering talks around the world, moderating CXO panel discussions, giving expert radio interviews, providing consulting and advisory services, and authoring white papers. He has also been recognized as a world-renowned cybersecurity and change management expert for leading Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Chatterjee was recently appointed as Senior Editor of the Journal for Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, a prestigious international research journal, with full oversight over cybersecurity research.
A leading IT educator, Dr. Chatterjee has taught at all levels – undergraduate, professional and executive MBA programs, and Ph.D. He has extensive experience teaching in top executive programs such as the Terry College Professional and Executive MBA programs and UNC Chapel Hill's Global OneMBA program. Numerous accolades and honors have come his way, such as the Outstanding Executive MBA Professor of the Year and the UGA Outstanding Teaching Faculty Honoree. The UGA Career Center has recognized his significant contributions to the development and success of Management Information Systems (MIS) undergraduates.
Dr. Chatterjee has provided leadership and guidance to several important university and college governance committees. He served as Chair of the University’s Program Review and Assessment Committee, member of the Executive Committee on Student Learning Outcomes Assessment, member of the University’s Data Governance Committee, and Chair of the Terry College MBA Committee.
Dr. Chatterjee is also very active in the IS professional community and led the Society for Information Management (SIM), Atlanta Chapter for almost a decade. SIM is a premier non-profit knowledge sharing and networking community of senior IT executives, prominent academics, and other thought leaders.
He is passionate about the development of the youth and is actively engaged in STEMand other types of initiatives. Dr. Chatterjee has offered professional development workshops on weekends to K-12 students on topics ranging from "Making the Most of Your Collegiate Experience to Realizing Your Full Potential, and Safe and Responsible Use of Technology. He has also provided summer research project opportunities to high school students.
An avid sports enthusiast, Dr. Chatterjee enjoys playing a variety of racquet sports – tennis, table tennis, badminton, racquetball, and squash.
