Schedule of Events

Register now for the Georgia Economic Outlook series, featuring events in eight cities across the state of Georgia.

Each year, the series kicks off in Atlanta with a networking luncheon followed by a national and state forecast. Additional events in cities across Georgia feature state and local forecasts. Terry College of Business Dean Benjamin C. Ayers provides the state forecast in all cities, while local forecasts are presented by the Selig Center or area business leaders.

Registration costs include lunch, forecasts from two speakers and a free download code to receive a full forecast report from the Selig Center for Economic Growth. Georgia Economic Outlook takes place in Atlanta on Dec. 13, 2021, at the Georgia Aquarium's Oceans Ballroom. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the event starts at noon sharp. Parking is available at 246 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. (across from Atlanta Breakfast Club) and can be paid upon entry by bringing your ticket to the lobby. Though not mandatory, masks are encouraged.

Mark VitnerMark Vitner

Managing Director and Senior Economist, Wells Fargo

Mark Vitner is managing director and senior economist for Wells Fargo’s Corporate and Investment Bank, where he is responsible for tracking U.S. and regional economic conditions. Mark writes for the department’s economic reports and produces publications on residential and commercial construction, regional economies and issues impacting small business. Originally from Atlanta, Mark earned a BBA in economics from the University of Georgia and an MBA from the University of North Florida. Mark is a member of NABE and its inaugural Certified Business Economist class. Mark is active in the community, co-founding the NABE Charlotte chapter. He served as board chair for the Foundation for the Charlotte Jewish Community and chaired the Economic Advisory Council for the California Chamber of Commerce for three years. He is a member of the Blue Chip economic forecasting panel and serves on the Joint Advisory Board of Economists for the Commonwealth of Virginia. His commentary has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and many other publications. He makes frequent guest appearances on CNBC and other major networks.

Ben AyersBenjamin C. Ayers

Dean and Earl Davis Chair in Taxation, Terry College of Business

Ben Ayers is dean of the University of Georgia Terry College of Business and holds the Earl Davis Chair in Taxation. He came to UGA in 1996 and served as director of the Tull School of Accounting for nine years before his appointment as the college’s 12th dean in 2014. Under his leadership, the Terry College completed its Building Terry campaign, raising $121 million to support faculty, programs and facilities for the state-of-the-art Business Learning Community, located in the heart of the UGA campus. Ayers serves on the Board of Synovus Bank’s Northeast Georgia Division, Benson’s Inc., the CFO Roundtable, as a Trustee of Athens Academy and earned his Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. Before pursuing his Ph.D., he worked for KPMG in Atlanta and Tampa and Complete Health Inc. in Birmingham.
