Terry’s part-time and full-time MBA programs both rose in the latest graduate school rankings from U.S. News & World Report on the strength of the college’s highest-ever employment rate for new graduates and its academic reputation among peer business schools.
Terry’s Professional MBA Program moved up one spot to No. 33 in U.S. News‘ part-time MBA ranking, and among public business schools it ranked No. 20. The Full-Time MBA Program jumped seven spots in the magazine ranking to No. 48 overall and No. 24 among public institutions.
In addition, U.S. News ranked the college’s Information Systems concentration, which is called Business Analytics at Terry, No. 16 overall, an improvement of three spots from the previous ranking.
“The upward momentum of our MBA Programs reflects our ongoing commitment to academic excellence and a people-first culture that promotes leadership, economic vitality and more effective organizations,” said Terry College Dean Benjamin C. Ayers. “These gains are the result of outstanding work by our faculty, staff and students and the realization of other program improvements like state-of-the-art graduate facilities in Correll Hall. I’m proud to see these efforts pay off.”
The success of Terry’s Full-Time MBA Program stems in part from high marks for its job placement rate and the college’s peer assessment score. A record 93 percent of Class of 2016 MBA graduates were employed within three months of graduation. U.S. News‘ peer assessment score is based on survey responses from business school deans and MBA program directors. Both measures placed the Terry MBA among the top 20 public full-time programs.
U.S. News‘ full-time MBA ranking is based on surveys of 471 MBA programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. The methodology includes an assessment of quality (40 percent), placement success (35 percent) and student selectivity (25 percent).
The part-time MBA ranking methodology is based on five factors: peer assessment (50 percent), standardized test scores (15 percent), years of work experience (15 percent), percentage of MBA enrollment in the part-time program (15 percent), and student undergraduate grade point average (5 percent). For its academic reputation among peers, Terry’s Part-Time MBA Program ranked No. 22 overall and No. 12 among public business schools.
The rankings appear in the 2018 edition of U.S. News & World Report‘s Best Graduate Schools guidebook, available March 14, 2017.
