MIS professor honored with two best paper awards

Nicholas Berente, a professor in the Management Information Systems Department, has co-authored two research papers that received top honors this summer.

He received the Best Paper Award from the journal Information and Organization for “Beyond the Organizational ‘Container’: Conceptualizing 21st Century Sociotechnical Work.” He shares the award with co-authors Susan Winter, James Howison and Brian Butler.

Berente was also honored with Best Conference Paper in the Organization Communication and Information Systems Division at the 2014 Academy of Management meeting for “Towards and Open Source Software Development Lifecycle.” He shares the honor with co-authors Aron Lindberg and Kalle Lyytinen.

Berente has been with the Terry College since 2010. His research interests include digital innovation and entrepreneurship, cyberinfrastructure and institutional change. He holds an MBA and PhD from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
