Twenty-four big data Dawgs are about to enter the workforce, as the inaugural class of Master of Science in Business Analytics students prepares to graduate from the Terry College of Business in May.

Students from the one-year program have already accepted job offers from companies such as The Home Depot, Chick-fil-A, Analysis Group, and Booz Allen Hamilton, among others.

“The job placements of our first MSBA graduates are a testament to the market-ready curriculum we developed,” said Santanu Chatterjee, director of the program. “The hard work the students put in, combined with the instruction and guidance they received from Terry professors, has produced terrific results. I could not be prouder.”

Many of the graduates will become senior analysts, consultants and strategic planners, thanks to the skills they developed through their graduate studies. The program, which includes courses in econometrics and predictive analysis, culminates in a 15-week capstone project that matches MSBA students with corporate partners to complete real-world projects involving complex datasets. This year, companies such as SunTrust Bank, Assurant, Blue Bird, HashMap, and Ad Victoriam Solutions have sponsored capstone projects.

Through the 33-credit-hour program, students develop expertise in the collection, storage, analysis and visualization of data. They also cultivate leadership, project management and teamwork skills through classes in management, marketing and economics.

The unique approach integrates cutting-edge technical skills with foundational business principles for effective data storytelling, turning big data problems into actionable solutions.
