For the second year in a row, the Online Master of Business and Technology degree at the University of Georgia is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 5 online specialized master’s programs in business.
U.S. News ranked the Online MBT at the Terry College of Business No. 4 among non-MBA programs in its new survey of the Best Online Programs for college graduates interested in furthering their education. The latest ranking ties the program’s No. 4 ranking in last year’s U.S. News survey.
The MBT degree is taught entirely through online courses. Working professionals can complete the part-time program in two years without taking time out from their careers. Students learn graduate-level information systems management and business leadership development.
“We offer innovative and world-class instruction and student opportunities that have helped our graduates lead in the business technology space since 2000,” said Craig Piercy, director of the MBT program and senior lecturer in Terry’s Management Information Systems Department. “Our exceptional faculty, all of whom are at the forefront of business technology and innovation, are dedicated to preparing our students with the skills and insights they need to lead tomorrow’s teams and solve tomorrow’s business challenges.”
In addition to being highly ranked, Terry’s Online MBT program has grown each year, from an initial class of 15 students to 40 students in fall 2020, and students have enjoyed impressive career outcomes. In 2020, 100 percent of MBT graduates were employed within three months of graduation.
Taught completely online, the 30 credit-hour curriculum is delivered over five semesters of scheduled and self-paced coursework. Each new cohort begins classes in August, and the application period for Fall 2021 admission is open now.
“We work closely with our industry advisory board to hone the program’s curriculum to ensure great outcomes for our students,” Piercy said. “Our graduates are prepared with the skills they need to innovate and solve problems. Our project-based curriculum means our graduates are ready to lead teams and tackle projects on day one.”
U.S. News & World Report is the only publication to use data gathered directly from each institution to evaluate online degrees at the program level rather than the school level. Their ranking methodologies are based on several factors, including student engagement, faculty credentials, student services and technology support. Only online programs that award degrees from accredited institutions were considered for the rankings.
The 2021 rankings evaluated more than 1,600 distance education bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. For more information, visit Best Online Programs at usnews.com and UGA’s Office of Online Learning.
