A team of five students from the Terry College of Business won first place at the 2017 Valuation Case Competition hosted by the Atlanta chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.
The Terry team, composed of finance major Logan Blignaut and Master of Accountancy students Dipika Kumar, Matt Lynch, Will Mahaffey and Zach Stephenson, beat teams from Georgia Tech and Georgia State University to win the $5,000 first prize.
All students enrolled in associate professor Bin Mei’s valuation course competed in the event’s first round in March. Mei and Terry College alumni Patrick Coyne, Matt Clark, Jay Sammons and Matt Kennedy then selected the students who advanced to the final round.
For the case competition, each team weighed the pros and cons of investment options facing a company and pitched an investment strategy to the company’s investment committee.
