Terry mourns John Barrack

John B. Barrack, a former professor in the J.M. Tull School of Accounting, passed away Nov. 13. He was 78.

A native of Mississippi, “JB” Barrack was a veteran of the U.S. Army and joined the Terry College in 1972. He taught courses on tax for 28 years, and was twice honored with the Outstanding Teacher Award by Beta Alpha Psi.

Barrack received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Mississippi and a doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to coming to UGA, he served as a senior accountant at Arthur Anderson in New Orleans.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, John; daughter, Julie; and 3 grandchildren. His memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Athens. No visitation will be held.
